Decatur County Detention Center, IN 

Overview 

Decatur County Detention Center, IN, is the primary detention facility for Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. Located along 601 S Ireland St, Greensburg, IN 47240, the minimum security jail detains anyone found violating local and state laws in Indiana. Posting Bail 

Pre-trial detainees at Decatur County Detention Center, IN, may secure their release while awaiting their criminal case proceedings or serve time on probation or in a community corrections facility. The pre-trial release is decided by a judge who may set the following bond types and amounts:

All inmates at Decatur County Detention Center have access to the following services:  

1. Inmate Visitations 

Decatur County Detention Center allows family members and friends (aged fourteen years and above) to visit inmates per the visitation schedule. That is, offenders in protective custody enjoy20-minute onsite video visits on Mondays to Fridays, excluding county holidays, from 8 am to 4 pm. The video visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. And participants must turn off their phones during the visit. Other visits include special schedules by attorneys and ordained ministers at any reasonable time. 

2. Inmate Funds  

Each inmate has access to a commissary account to receive and spend money while detained at the county jail. Here, the county jail deposits any money the inmate had at the time of the booking into the commissary account. Then, family and friends can top up the deposit by sending cash using money orders, cashier’s checks, or bills and coins at the Jail Lobby Kiosk. That way, inmates have personal funds to pay for their postage stamps, telephone time, electronics, toiletries, and medicine. 

3. Inmate Telephone Calls 

Inmates at Decatur County Detention Center, IN, may make prepaid or collect calls to their friends and loved ones, pre-approved by the county jail. If making a prepaid call, the inmate will settle the telephone charges using funds from their commissary accounts.  

4. Inmate Mail
